Secondary Needs Being Revealed

Affiliation

The need:

  • for friendly relationships.
  • to be close to "the boss."
  • to be liked by others.
  • to work in union.
  • to "possess"-to have a sense of place and/or ownership.
  • to belong.
  • to be sought out by peers and/or superiors.

Students who have these needs are easy to identify. They:

  • like belonging to clubs and especially like holding offices.
  • want to be in charge.
  • volunteer to work on committees.
  • love to plan social activities.
  • often exclude others from being part of the "inner circle."
