The Know-It-All

Behavior: Specific attitudes and actions of this child at home and/or at school.

  1. Acts as if he/she has all the answers to everything.

  2. Refuses to be told anything.

  3. Always wants to talk.

  4. Has a superior attitude toward teacher and classmates.

  5. Argumentative.

  6. Difficult to talk to; gives his/her answers or opinions before the other person finishes speaking.

  7. Likely to be bright, and usually participates.

  8. Acts as if he/she is doing teacher a favor by being in the class.

  9. Very critical of others' responses-regardless of whether they're those of another student or of an adult.

  10. May be sarcastic and even get nasty, but reflection will reveal that he/she seldom loses self-control.

  11. Thinks he/she is better informed than other people.

  12. May be described as a "bigmouth" by peers.

  13. A poor listener.

  14. Tries to impress peers.

  15. Likely either to be a loner or to band together with other know-it-all students.
