The Goldbrick

Behavior: Specific attitudes and actions of this child at home and/or at school.

  1. Always trying to get "something for nothing." Wants a good grade without studying, a good reputation without being nice to others, more teacher time without showing interest in class work.

  2. Displays behavior that is incompatible with classroom activities, because his/her goal is achievement through nonproductivity.

  3. Devotes majority of time, energy, and resources to loafing.

  4. Feels "getting by with something" is an indication of cleverness.

  5. Quite satisfied to continue operating in this manner.

  6. Has no apparent sense of wasting his/her potential.

  7. Justifies behavior to self by considering it a product of superior intelligence.

  8. Unfortunately, gets a great deal of satisfaction from his/her stance.

  9. Laughs at students who work hard.
