The Goldbrick

Behavior: Specific attitudes and actions of this child at home and/or at school.

  • Always trying to get "something for nothing." Wants a good grade without studying, a good reputation without being nice to others, more teacher time without showing interest in class work.

  • Displays behavior that is incompatible with classroom activities, because his/her goal is achievement through nonproductivity.

  • Devotes majority of time, energy, and resources to loafing.

  • Feels "getting by with something" is an indication of cleverness.

  • Quite satisfied to continue operating in this manner.

  • Has no apparent sense of wasting his/her potential.

  • Justifies behavior to self by considering it a product of superior intelligence.

  • Unfortunately, gets a great deal of satisfaction from his/her stance.

  • Laughs at students who work hard.
