Behaviors Related To Autonomy

The need for autonomy is the need to be one’s own boss, to be independent, and to have some control over one’s own life. Parents can help children express this need by letting them make choices and set goals. Parents must be sensitive to opportunities to fulfill, whenever possible, the need all children have for autonomy.
