Behavior Information

The Objector

Behavior: How exactly is my child behaving?

  1. Always has some extenuating circumstances that prevent him or her from doing something.

  2. Objects to household rules, claiming they're "unfair."

  3. Objects to changes in routines.

  4. Objects when parents won't accept excuses he or she considers valid, such as "I thought it was Mary's turn to unload the dishwasher," or "I can't find any clean clothes to wear to school."

  5. At school, behind everyone else on class work.

  6. Not prepared to do what the class is doing.

  7. Borrows frequently.

  8. Needs more time.

  9. Makes objections rather than alibis, excuses, or complaints. Make no mistake—there is a difference.

  10. Objects to chores as too long or as interrupting his or her busy schedule.
